Reconstructing past events to understand the future

Coastal Boulder Deposits (CBD) are found along high-energy coastal margins worldwide, and provide a record of present day and past storms and tsunamis that can give glimpses of future risk. However, interpretation remains contentious and uncertain.

The goal of ISROC is to help different research groups coordinate work, share data, set standards and goals for the future, and train the next generation. In this way, the relationships between CBD. and tsunami/storm properties will become better understood, allowing us to reconstruct past inundation and better prepare for future risks.
